One – to – One Coaching
The one-to-one coaching component is a critical element of the Academy. It pairs up a seasoned high level agency executive with each participant for a one-to-one coaching experience. The relationship lasts the duration of the Academy with a goal of fostering an ongoing coaching relationship. Each participant has the option to request a coach inside or outside their agency.
The goals of integrating a coaching element into the Leadership Academy include:
- Enrich the overall experience for the Academy participants
- Provide confidential career development advice and other support for each of the Academy participants
- Enhance the organizational and professional network of the participants
- Renew and refresh the senior manager/coaches
For each person a participating agency places in the Academy cohort, they offer an equal number of volunteer coaches. This relationship creates opportunities for the participants to receive confidential talent development coaching and each volunteer coach to re-energize themselves through coaching. The Academy pairs each participant with a coach either from inside their agency or from another participating agency.
The Academy Directors conduct a mandatory coach orientation, mid-Academy coach check-in, and a debrief at the close of the Academy (all virtual). Coaches also receive monthly emails from Academy Directors with information about what topics the participants are covering each month and resource reading material they have been provided.
